Retrieval of Student Belongings

The information below applies only to students in Undergraduate housing.

FOR STUDENTS LIVING ON CAMPUS WHO STILL HAVE BELONGINGS STORED WITH COLLEGEBOXES

FOR GRADUATED/GRADUATING STUDENTS NOT CURRENTLY LIVING ON CAMPUS

FOR SOPHOMORES/JUNIORS NOT CURRENTLY LIVING ON CAMPUS

 

FOR STUDENTS LIVING ON CAMPUS WHO STILL HAVE BELONGINGS STORED WITH COLLEGEBOXES

Stanford provided complimentary storage to you through Collegeboxes until you returned to campus during the 2020-21 academic year. Now that you are back on campus, you have several options for retrieving your belongings and you must take action over the next few weeks. If you do not take action by the June 30 deadline, your items will be disposed of or donated.

1. Choose one of the following no-cost options:

a. Pick Up Your Belongings: Schedule an appointment now for you or your proxy to collect all belongings from the Santa Clara warehouse before June 30.
b. Donate Your Belongings: Request now that your belongings be disposed of or donated before June 30.
c. Have Your Belongings Delivered to Campus: Request that your belongings be delivered to your on-campus residence during one of the following two delivery windows:

i.  Monday, May 3 - Friday May 7
ii. Tuesday, June 1 - Friday June 4

2.    Or, choose one of the following options at your personal expense:

a.    Request now to have your belongings shipped to your address of choice before June 30 at your expense.
b.    Request now to have your items remain in storage beyond June 30 at your expense.

To communicate your desired option from above, please contact Collegeboxes as quickly as possible in one of the following ways: 

 

FOR ALL STUDENTS

  • Remember that you must make arrangements with Collegeboxes at least 72 hours in advance to pick up items from the warehouse as it is not a staffed facility.
  • When scheduling a delivery-to-campus appointment, you agree to take possession of all of your belongings. 
  • Should you decide to return some items to storage after delivery, you must make arrangements directly with Collegeboxes at your own expense by providing credit card information.
  • Remember that you must be present to accept your belongings directly. If you are not present to accept your belongings during your scheduled appointment, they will be returned to the warehouse in Santa Clara, CA and you will be charged a $200 missed-delivery fee. You will need to make another appointment 72-hours in advance to arrange the delivery of your items remaining in storage.

FOR GRADUATED/GRADUATING STUDENTS NOT CURRENTLY LIVING ON CAMPUS 

Stanford will support the cost of storing or shipping your belongings to you until June 30, 2021. You have several options for retrieving your belongings and must take action over the next few weeks. If you do not take action before the June 30 deadline, your items will be disposed of or donated.

If you are not returning to on-campus housing for the summer quarter 2021 that begins June 21, 2021, you must select one of the following options:

1.    Choose one of the following no-cost options:

a.    Pick Up Your Belongings: Schedule an appointment now for you or your proxy to collect all belongings from the Santa Clara warehouse before June 30.
b.    Ship Your Belongings: Make arrangements now to have all belongings shipped to your address of choice before June 30.
c.    Donate Your Belongings: Request now that your belongings be disposed of or donated before June 30.

2.    Or, request now to have your items remain in storage beyond June 30 at your personal expense.

Important: 

  • If you have graduated and will lose access to your Stanford email account, please contact Collegeboxes with your new preferred email address. Note that your Collegeboxes login ID will not change after updating your email address. You must continue to use your original Stanford email address as your login ID to access your online Collegeboxes account.\ Remember that you must make arrangements with Collegeboxes at least 72 hours in advance to pick up items from the warehouse as it is not a staffed facility.

 

FOR SOPHOMORES/JUNIORS NOT CURRENTLY LIVING ON CAMPUS 

For students who are not currently living on campus but do plan to return to campus for summer or autumn quarter 2021, Stanford has made the decision to extend your complimentary storage through Collegeboxes until the start of autumn quarter 2021. This storage extension only applies to students who are not currently living on campus AND not returning to campus for summer quarter 2021 AND planning to return to campus for autumn quarter 2021.

As you make your plans, we want to remind you of the options you have for retrieving your belongings whether or not you plan on returning to campus.

1.    If you are not planning to return to campus this summer quarter 2021 and not planning to return to campus this autumn quarter 2021, you must do one of the following:

a.    Choose one of the following no-cost options:

i.    Ship Your Belongings: Make arrangements now to have all belongings shipped to your address of choice before June 30.
ii.    Pick Up Your Belongings: Schedule an appointment now for you or your proxy to collect all belongings from the Santa Clara warehouse before June 30.  As the warehouse is not staffed, please make arrangements with Collegeboxes at least 72 hours in advance.
iii.    Donate Your Belongings: Request now that your belongings be disposed of or donated before June 30.

b.    Or, choose to have your items remain in storage beyond June 30 at your personal expense.

To communicate your desired option from above, please contact Collegeboxes as quickly as possible in one of the following ways: 

2.    If you are returning to campus for summer quarter 2021, you will be asked to schedule an appointment with Collegeboxes to have all of your belongings delivered to your on-campus residence after you have arrived for the beginning of summer quarter. All items must be removed from the Collegeboxes warehouse by June 30, 2021. More information will be provided to you in the coming weeks after you have signed up for summer housing. Items left in storage beyond June 30 will be disposed of or donated.

3.    If you are returning to campus for autumn quarter 2021 (but not summer quarter 2021), you will be asked to schedule an appointment with Collegeboxes to have all of your belongings delivered to your on-campus residence after you have arrived for the beginning of autumn quarter. All items must be removed from the Collegeboxes warehouse by September 30, 2021. More information will be provided to you in the coming weeks.
