Celebrating Black History Month Through Food, Music, Dance and Art
February 21, 2024
In celebration of Black History Month, Residential & Dining Enterprises held a special event for staff from across R&DE divisions on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at Paul Brest Hall.
This educational event provided valuable insights into Black History Month through an impactful panel discussion moderated by Dr. Shirley J. Everett, senior associate vice provost for Residential & Dining Enterprises and senior adviser to the Provost on Equity and Inclusion, with Dr. Rosalind Conerly, associate dean & Karr Family Director for the Black Community Services Center, Centers for Equity, Community, and Leadership; Mia Love, District D Director for Land, Buildings & Real Estate (LBRE); and Dr. Katie Ohene-Gambil, staff psychologist with Counseling and Psychology Services at the Vaden Health Center. Activities included Stanford and Black history trivia, an interactive dance, and a special culinary experience created by the R&DE Stanford Dining, Hospitality & Auxiliaries team in partnership with celebrity chef Tanya Holland’s Red Skillet Kitchen. An Art exhibit featured exceptional pieces from R&DE's own Jocelyn Breeland, chief communications and marketing officer, Robert Coles, MS, senior director of Creative and Digital Services, and Stanford students, Sky Walker and Destiny Kelly.
