- Housing Options:
- Dormitory-style residence with shared bathrooms and community common spaces (Single / Shared). Linen (bed sheets, blanket, pillow, towels) is NOT provided. Please bring your own (XL Twin) or rent a linen pack for your stay.
- Apartment-style residence with private bathroom and kitchen (Single / Shared). Linen (bed sheets, blanket, pillow, towels) is NOT provided. Please bring your own (XL Twin) or rent a linen pack for your stay.
- Meals: Not included; residents can explore the various dining options around campus
- No Smoking: Smoking is not allowed in any building or within 30 feet of any building entrance.
- No Pets: No pets are allowed, even for a visit.
- Dining Options: While meals are not included, there are several R&DE-operated cafés open during the summer, as well as other eateries located both on campus in the local Palo Alto community. Meal plans and Flex Dollars that can be used in R&DE-operated dining halls and cafés can be purchased in advance of arrival.
- Parking: Participants are eligible to purchase residential parking permits to park close to their campus residence.
Eligibility & Requirements
To qualify for Intern Housing at Stanford, you must present an official internship notice or offer letter from a company or organization and stay a minimum of four weeks. Proof of this affiliation is required with your application.
- 18 years old or older
- Current registered student at an accredited college or university
- Must use their official school email address in all correspondence — gmail, yahoo, aol or any other non-school email addresses are not accepted.
- Proof of Internship — letter from employer or complete internship form (see documents below)
- A copy of your current college ID will be required upon check-in.
To complete your application, please read, sign, and submit the following documents along with your application:
- Liability Waiver Form
- Housing Policies and Services for Non-Student Summer Housing
- Stanford Intern Housing Verification Form or offer letter from a company or organization.
Your application will not be processed without these signed forms.
Rates & Application
Participants will be charged a flat rate based on the number of full weeks selected, not by the number of nights. All bookings must align with full-week increments (partial-week stays are not available). Standard check-in is on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. and standard check-out is on Saturday at 11:00 a.m.

The above pricing does not include linen. You can either bring your own sheets (XL Twin), pillow, blanket, and towels, or rent a linen pack for your stay.
Linen packs are available for $65 for interns who do not wish to bring their own pillow, sheets, and towels. This is a one-time rental fee per package for the duration of your stay. You have the option to wash the linens at your convenience using the washer(s) and dryer(s) provided in residence. If you would like to request an additional linen package during your stay, there will be an additional charge of $65 per package.

General Information
Summer housing for interns offer two housing options: 1) Dorm-style residence with common bath (single or shared room) located in an undergraduate housing facility in the west campus, or 2) Apartment-style private room and private bath (single or shared room within a 2-bedroom apartment) located in a graduate facility in the east campus. Custodial staff provide daily cleaning of common areas around the residence. Linen packs are available for rent or interns can bring their own linen.
Check-ins & Check-outs: Intern Housing residents are required to check-in on Sundays between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. and check-out on Saturdays at 11:00 am. An after-hours service team will assist check-ins after office hours. When you receive confirmation of your reservation, please review the detailed information on where to check-in and other important instructions.
Payments: Accommodations require pre-payment in full prior to check-in. MasterCard, Visa and American Express are accepted online via a secure payment portal. PTAs and Cost Centers are also accepted. Payment information will be included in the email confirmation.
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations must be made at least thirty (30) days before check-in date in writing by emailing summerhousing@stanford.edu. A refund will be given minus a 20% cancellation fee. No refunds will be given if reservations are canceled less than thirty (30) days from the check-in date.
Guests: Overnight guests are not allowed in campus housing, and they are not permitted in the residence during quiet hours. Quiet hours are between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. daily. Any guest who stays overnight is deemed an unauthorized occupant, and you will be subject to unauthorized occupancy charges, which are $225/day. You are responsible for ensuring that your guests depart before quiet hours begin and for their compliance with this guest policy.
Lost Key and/or Fob Fees: Keys and fobs MUST be returned to the Housing Service Center upon check-out. Keys or fobs MUST NOT be left in the room. Guests are required to accept liability for misplaced keys. If keys are not returned at check-out, guests will be charged for the cost of rekeying the room/apartment or the replacement of a building access fob. For security purposes, locks to rooms/apartments will be changed immediately once a key has been reported lost and/or after check-out if the key is not returned.
Mail & Packages: The Housing Service Center managing this residence cannot accept packages or mail. Please set up a P.O. Box at the US Post Office on campus located in Tresidder Memorial Union or ask your department sponsor to receive your mail on your behalf.
Meals: Stanford Dining, Hospitality, & Auxiliary Cafes are within walking distance to the residence. The Market at Munger is a convenient grocery located in the lobby of Jacobson-Sorensen Hall at Munger Graduate Residence, beside the Law School. Check for summer hours before visiting a cafe. Summer meal plans in a dining hall will be available for purchase from Stanford Dining starting in June. Guests will receive dining information prior to their move-in date.
Pets and Animals: Pets or live animals of any kind, including those housed in aquariums or terrariums, are prohibited in all university residences, unless they are a service animal approved by the Office of Accessible Education. If you are found to have a pet or live animal in residence, you will be charged an administrative fee of $100/day from the date it is discovered until it is permanently removed from your residence. You will also be charged a mandatory cleaning fee due to the extra cleaning needed to bring the room or apartment back to a standard for a student who may have an animal allergy. Failure to comply may also result in losing housing privileges.
