Undergraduate Students: You must check in within two days of your official move-in date unless you’ve made alternate arrangements with Housing Assignments.
Frosh & Transfer Students: In autumn quarter, you’ll receive your room key and Stanford ID during New Student Orientation (NSO) check-in. Already have a Stanford ID? Bring it with you—replacements are issued only if lost.
Returning Undergraduate Students: Pick up your room key at your Housing Service Center during normal business hours.
Graduate Students: You must check in with your Housing Service Center. If you have your ID card, please bring it with you.
After-hours arrival? Call (650) 725-1602. The CARE Team will assist you with check-in logistics.
Early Arrival (Undergraduates and Graduates)
For Undergraduate Students: You may move in early only if you’re part of an approved group, such as:
- Residence staff
- New Student Orientation (NSO) volunteers
- Stanford athletic teams
Important Information:
- Your group coordinator must submit your name to Housing Assignments.
- You’ll receive check-in instructions directly from the early arrival team.
- Prorated rent applies for each early-arrival day.
- To avoid charges, cancel your early arrival at least two weeks in advance—even if you decide not to move in early.
For Graduate Students: Reach out to your Housing Service Center to request an early arrival. Prorated rent applies. Any student can request early arrival, but it’s not guaranteed.
