Lunar New Year Celebration
February 8. 2024
The Lunar New Year celebration is a significant cultural event observed by many communities around the world, including Star Ginger at Stanford University's Wilbur Dining Hall. Special attention is focused on the culinary offerings during the holiday, with our chefs serving a diverse array of traditional Asian dishes to commemorate the occasion. This year’s menu included Prosperity Japchae Salad, Three Mushroom Dan Dan Noodles, Crispy Lumpia, Treasure Young Chow Fried Rice, Hainan Chicken, Salt Baked Crispy Fish with Vietnamese Ginger-Chili Sauce, Whole Roasted Suckling Pig, Steamed Dim Sum, Mung Bean & Pork Rice Cake, and a variety of desserts. Festive decorations adorned the dining hall to usher in good fortune for the new year.
Lunar New Year – Year of the Dragon Each year is associated with one of twelve animals, and the year of the dragon holds particular significance. Dragons are revered as symbols of strength, power, and good luck.
