Open Conversations with Dr. Everett on DEIB

On behalf of Dr. Everett, Eric Montell, Assistant Vice Provost for R&DE Stanford Dining, Hospitality & Auxiliaries made heartfelt remarks and recognized the importance of the continuing series at the outset of our last session held on Thursday, April 28, 2022. The topic focused on the various resources and employee support programs including childcare, elder care and mental health resources available to benefits-eligible staff. Phyllis Stewart Pires, Associate Vice President for Employee Support Programs & Services and Caitlin Azhderian, Director of WorkLife Strategy both gave wonderful and informative presentations on valuable programs available to Stanford staff. These programs include:

  • Child Care Subsidy Grant Program (CCSG)
  • Adoption Assistance Program
  • Back-up Child Care
  • Child Care Resources and Referral Programs
  • Elder Care Resources and Referral Programs
  • Parent Educational and Support Resources
  • Faculty Staff Help Center
  • Meru Health Digital Platform
  • Brightline
  • And more!

In addition to learning about these impactful programs, R&DE staff also heard from two of our newest R&DE Staff Affinity Groups including R&DE Stanford Dining’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging Affiliate Committee and Maintenance Operations & Capital Projects’ DEIB Advisory Group in the form of an engaging panel discussion. A special thank you to Tami Lin, Executive Chef and Rachelle Rivers, Project and Student Engagement Supervisor of R&DE Stanford Dining and Marusela Anders, Executive Assistant and Russell Fong, Carpenter Specialist Leader from Maintenance Operations & Capital Projects for their participation in this event and for sharing their insights into the creation and development of these new affinity teams and how each of us can lead with purpose, passion and kindness. Also, a special thank you to Kahlil Wells, Associate Director, R&DE Stanford Dining for moderating the session’s panel.
