Building Access and Safety
- Always: Keep residence doors closed and locked.

- Card Access Tips: Report lost cards, never share access, and avoid tailgating.
- Visitor Access: Only let in known visitor; don't allow tailgaters.
- Spouse/Partner Access: Apply for a Spouse/Partner courtesy card with proof of relationship.
Personalizing Your Space
Decor
- Use painter’s tape or, on tackboards, pushpins.
- Do not use adhesives (e.g., duct tape, mounting putty, or glue).
Power
- Use only surge-protected power strips.
- See Electrical Safety guidelines for details.
University-Provided Furniture
- Additional storage or furniture is not available.
- You may store university-provided furniture off campus at your own expense.
- Return all items in good condition before move-out.
Balconies
- Keep balconies clear of clutter.
- Allowed storage units must be under 42 inches tall, lockable, and chew-resistant.
Outdoor Equipment
- No hot tubs or pools.
- Use barbecues at ground level only.
Bed Lofting and Configuration
Availability: Stanford-provided loft kits are available first-come, first-served via your Housing Service Center.
- Use two guardrails for lofted/bunked beds.
- You’re responsible for safe assembly.
- R&DE staff inspect setups during autumn quarter and winter break.

Heating and Cooling
- Adjust with control knob/lever to set temperature.
- Do not block or open windows while heating is on.
- Submit Fix-It Request or contact your Housing Service Center for issues.
Special Features: All Munger residences and select Lyman and Escondido Village residences have programmable thermostats with posted instructions.
