Construction & Renovation

R&DE Student Housing has a strong commitment to the constant improvement of our facilities, with a number of goals in mind, including, but definitely not limited to:  student comfort (heating systems, furnishings, carpet, etc.), health and safety (such as seismic upgrades, fire prevention and suppression, etc.), and energy/water use efficiency (double-paned windows, low flow fixtures, solar panel trials, etc.).

Below you’ll find information about current and future Student Housing projects, as well as campus projects which directly impact our residents. Further information about major projects across campus is available on the Land, Buildings and Real Estate Capital Projects page.

Construction, renovation, and repair projects will necessarily cause increased noise around directly involved and nearby residences, as well as throughout other housing areas.  While all possible measures are taken to minimize the impact of these projects, any student moving into or living in affected areas should be prepared to accept the unavoidable aspects of life in a neighborhood under construction. Continual inspections and work may occur in and around your residence prior to and up to a year after a major construction or renovation project.  Some students may be required to move to different rooms/apartments or temporarily vacate their current rooms while work is underway.

2017-20 New Graduate Housing Project

Stanford University is building a large graduate housing complex, the Escondido Village Graduate Residences, on the east side of campus. This major project will effect students in the surrounding areas, including throughout Escondido Village and in Mirrielees apartments. Parking garage construction will impact students in Lantana and Castano Halls.

Summer 2018 Projects

Governor's Corner Sterling Quad - While students will be occupying Robinson and Schiff Houses this summer, construction activities will be taking place in Potter and Adams, the other two houses that make up the Sterling Quad area.
