Planned Construction and Renovation

Construction & Renovation

R&DE Student Housing has a strong commitment to the constant improvement of our facilities, with a number of goals in mind, including, but definitely not limited to:  student comfort (heating systems, furnishings, carpet, etc.), health and safety (such as seismic upgrades, fire prevention and suppression, etc.), and energy/water use efficiency (double-paned windows, low flow fixtures, solar panel trials, etc.).

Below you’ll find information about current and future Student Housing projects, as well as campus projects which directly impact our residents. Further information about major projects across campus is available on the Land, Buildings and Real Estate Capital Projects page.

Construction, renovation, and repair projects will necessarily cause increased noise around directly involved and nearby residences, as well as throughout other housing areas.  While all possible measures are taken to minimize the impact of these projects, any student moving into or living in affected areas should be prepared to accept the unavoidable aspects of life in a neighborhood under construction. Continual inspections and work may occur in and around your residence prior to and up to a year after a major construction or renovation project.  Some students may be required to move to different rooms/apartments or temporarily vacate their current rooms while work is underway.

Summer 2017 Graduate Housing Projects

Suites - The Suites will close at the end of the 8-week session, on August 20 due to a painting project.  Anyone assigned to the Suites with a contract extending past August 20 will be reassigned and will have to move to another residence for the end of their contract.

Governor's Corner Sterling Quad - various projects will occur this summer while occupied. Sterling quad will close at the end of the 10-week session, on September 5, and will not be available for summer-autumn interim housing. If you wish to have interim housing and are assigned to Sterling Quad, you will need to move to a Governor's Corner independent house or to Gerhard Casper Quad.
