On behalf of the R&DE Team,
Welcome to Stanford!
This is always an exciting time of year, as the entire Residential & Dining Enterprises (R&DE) team prepares to welcome new and returning students to campus. A personal highlight for me is always visiting all the frosh dorms at NSO, along with other university leaders, to personally greet as many students and families as possible.
This year, although circumstances have changed due to COVID-19, we want to ensure each of you knows, whether you will be living on campus or joining us remotely, you are welcome and valued. In R&DE, we believe students come first. You are the reason we are here! With this in mind, we have adapted our operations to continue serving you in a way that is safe for you, for our dedicated staff and others in our community. For example, we have changed our dining and café service, in alignment with county mandates, to take-out and have implemented enhanced cleaning protocols in dining, housing and across R&DE. On our website, you can learn more about how we can work together to keep everyone safe.
Our nutritionists are available (whether you live on campus or not) to assist students who have food allergies, religious dietary requirements and other special diets and those who have questions about nutrition. For assistance with healthy eating, visit our Eat Well @ Stanford page. It includes a link to schedule a consultation.
Great news! This week, students who are approved to live on campus autumn quarter received their assignments and other important information from R&DE Student Housing Assignments. We have included below information about move-in arrangements. Given the limited number of quarters undergraduate students are permitted to live on campus due to COVID-19, the 2020-21 year will not count against a student’s four-year housing guarantee. We anticipate that housing assignments for the 2021-22 year will again be part of a student’s four-year guarantee.
Undergraduates who will be on campus autumn quarter will live in the new Escondido Village Graduate Residences, Building A (EVGR-A). EVGR features a Marketplace, where students can purchase pre-packaged meals and snacks. You can also use your Stanford Dining meal plan for take-out meals. Cardinal Dollars are accepted at the EVGR Marketplace, the Munger Market and the Axe and Palm. You can purchase from Munger Market and the Axe and Palm using the Food ToGo pre-order app. Munger Market also offers contact-free delivery. The Housing Front Desk (HFD) in EVGR-A is your source – seven days a week – for information and assistance in situations such as lock outs. You will receive contact information by email. The R&DE CARE (Community Access Response Enterprise) team is also available for after-hours check ins and lockouts.
The new academic year will be one of change and adaptation. We want you to know, whatever the coming months may bring, R&DE is here to support you. Stay well. We wish you a successful autumn quarter!
