As Director of Account Management & Risk Mitigation for Stanford Conferences, Phil contributes over sixteen years of collegiate conference experience, and his career represents a commitment to the fields of hospitality and education.

In prior roles at California State University, Northridge and Allegheny College, Phil has performed in various conference management capacities overseeing conferences and other hospitality programs.  He believes without question in the value of hosting conferences at universities like Stanford for the benefits that result for the campus community through revenues and employment opportunities, as well as for the learning and knowledge development that takes place for the many conference guests who visit the campus to attend them.

An active leader in the industry, Phil is a member of a number of professional organizations, including the Association of Collegiate Conference and Event Directors - International (ACCED-I), for which he has served in a variety of leadership positions including four years as a member of the Board of Directors and, one year as its Treasurer. He is currently serving a three-year term as President, President-Elect, and Immediate Past President, positions that are key to shaping and setting the standards and trends that impact conference operations at every college and university.  

Phil also maintains an active membership in Meeting Professionals International (MPI), an organization representing professionals responsible for conference, event, and meeting management worldwide.  He has also been a member of the Society of Government Meeting Planners, local Convention and Visitors Bureaus, and many other professional associations related to his work.

Considered an accomplished professional throughout the industry, Phil’s achievements serve as testimony to his commitment to continuously learn and grow in his field, while devoting a great deal of his time to helping others to learn and grow from his own expertise, as well.  Phil is a veteran presenter on a variety of conference management related topics. He has authored several professional articles for industry publications, and he regularly facilitates professional forums for the discussion and sharing of best practices.  

Phil’s educational honors include a Bachelors degree from UCLA; a Masters degree in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, and a teaching credential.  His professional achievements include meeting the high professional standards to become a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) as well as demonstrating the requirements to earn his Certification in Meeting Management (CMM), considered the most prestigious professional designation in the industry and typically awarded to fewer than 100 professionals worldwide each year.
