Student Engagement
We put students first!
R&DE Stanford Dining prides itself on providing not only high-quality and nutritious cuisine to meet the wide variety of dietary needs, but a wide variety of opportunities for students to get directly involved. We offer student engagement programs that encourage students to pursue interests in many fields including sustainability, nutrition, research and community building.
Stanford Food Institute Internship
In this academic year-long program, you'll start by diving into a behind-the-scenes tour of Stanford Dining's award-winning, pioneering food program, and you'll leave having contributed to real-world problems and projects that truly make a difference. On top of it all, you'll experience invaluable mentorship from some of the country's brightest minds and most established leaders on topics of culinary excellence, eating well, and sustainable food systems. You will even have the opportunity to co-lead a project with one of our amazing mentors. Warning: As a result of this internship, you just might be convinced to pursue a career in food!
Dining Ambassadors
Open to all undergraduate students currently residing in the neighborhoods, the Dining Ambassador Internship offers a chance to get involved with our dining programs and special events to build and engage the community while acting as a trusted liaison between dining staff and students. Please click here to view the full job description. Applications for the 2023-24 academic year are now open. Please email Tejas Barve at barve@stanford.edu or Ebru Epir at epir@stanford.edu with any further questions.
Student Menu Innovation Committee
Our goal is to represent the diverse food preferences of the student community, while supporting sustainable, healthy, delicious food as we craft student dining hall menus together. Committee members are volunteers that will work together with the Stanford Dining executive chef team for the academic year, providing student input and perspectives on current and proposed dining hall menus. This includes providing feedback for new menu items, new recipes, authenticity, inclusivity of dishes, sustainability, health and wellness and overall deliciousness.
